Shawnisha Thomas

Shawnisha is the founder and principal therapist of Thomas Clinical Consultation Services LLC. Shawnisha is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) in Delaware. Shawnisha’s education and professional background in both the mind and the body gives her a unique and effective approach to counseling. Shawnisha utilizes restorative practices to help female preteens, adolescents and women thrive holistically with the goal of promoting healthy communities. Shawnisha utilizes the individual strengths of participants seeking therapeutic services as the foundation for treatment and builds upon those strengths and protective factors throughout the therapeutic relationship. Her main objective is to be a supportive agent as the participant embarks upon their personal journey of restoration. 

Shawnisha has a master’s level education in mental health counseling from Springfield College. Prior to becoming a therapist, Shawnisha served as a therapeutic liaison to youth in the School District of Philadelphia, proving therapeutic supports to children experiencing difficulties in the traditional learning environment. Shawnisha is diligent in her therapeutic practice and committed to the profession and service to others.

Outside of private practice, she has worked as an outpatient therapist and lead therapist for a community-based program in a non-profit integrative group practice, as well as a guidance counselor in a primary school. Shawnisha has experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concerns. Shawnisha is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) through Delaware’s Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services (DPBHS), and is proficiently trained in attachment, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness therapy. Shawnisha is a person-centered therapist with a mixed modality of treatment incorporating a humanistic approach.

In addition to being a licensed professional counselor, Shawnisha is also an author who has recently released her first children’s book “Wollie and the Wandering Repeat”. Shawnisha is passionate about trauma-focused treatment and plans to continue to educate children and families about the effects of trauma through her creative writing.
